Okay, I can't take it anymore, I must make it known! Do you know what really pisses me off? ...Wait, shouldn't there be some sort of introduction here? Okay, well, my name's Amanda (I'd tell you my last name, but then, I'd have to kill you.), I'm fourteen years old (I spell out numbers... Most of the time... Yes, *sigh* I'm a nerd.), and I live in Anchorage Alaska.
I live in Alaska. That's what pisses me off. No, no, no. I love it here, don't get me wrong. It's just that I love music ("Rock" types, if I must specify.), like most teenagers, and you know how many concerts I've been to? Go ahead, guess.
Did you guess 5-10? Then you're wrong. I've been to two. Two! All six bands (I can count. Really. There were three bands doing one show, three doing the other. Two shows.) were local, meaning they were from Alaska. They rocked, but you know, it wouldn't hurt seeing people from other places.
Let me ask you some things. Do you think Alaskans are all Eskimos? Do you think we live in igloos? Do you think we have moose for pets? Do you think polar bears live in our backyards? Do you think that it snows year-round here? Do you think we use sleds pulled by dogs to get around?
If you answered 'yes' to any of the above questions then you, my friend, are a moron. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.
We are not all 'Eskimos.'
We do not live in igloos. I've never even seen an igloo.
We see moose around and stuff, but no one actually has them as pets. Not many people at least...
Do polar bears even live in Alaska? *shrugs* The only polar bear I've seen was at the Alaska zoo.
It doesn't snow all year here, amazing as that sounds. We have *dramatic pause* FOUR seasons!! Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Winter. (That was a joke... Not a good one, but what do you expect?)
I think this one is the most shocking of all: We have cars here! The sleds are used for fun mostly. Like the Iditarod (Sounds like: I did a rod.), it's a- Nevermind. If you don't know what it is, look it up.
I didn't mean to destroy people's hopes of what Alaska is like... I know what that's like. I was crushed to find out the people in Africa don't live in grass huts and have pet elephants. (...Joke. Although, I really did think they lived in grass huts for a while when I was six-ish.)
Is Alaska not tourable or something? I often read tour dates (Never expecting to see Alaska on them, of course.) and I always see bands going to Canada. If you look at a map, what's Canada next to? That's right! Alaska.
Believe it or not, New York and Alaska have similar weather. Sometimes it's even warmer here than it is there. Amazing!
I don't know where I was hoping to go with this, I just needed to get it out. Who knows, the right person just might read this (NOT!). Aw, well. I had fun writing it. Tal- Type to y'all later. I'm out. Peace.
